Fraunhofer FOKUS stands for applied research at the highest scientific level. Our employees make Fraunhofer FOKUS an internationally renowned institute in the field of digital networking, receiving highly prestigious national and international awards every year.

2024

• The “Corporate Star Awards” were presented at the IBC in Amsterdam. The “Ecoflow” project won in the “Best Carbon Footprint Improvement Initiative” category. Fraunhofer FOKUS contributed its experience from the “Green Streaming” project to the initiative.
• The BMBF project AI-NET received the CELTIC-NEXT Innovation Award 2024 at the 6G conference in Berlin. In the AI-NET-ANTILLAS project, Fraunhofer FOKUS developed the COOL-Fusor, a software solution for improving the environmental perception of automated vehicles. 

2023

• FOKUS researchers received the Best Paper Award at the 15th EAI International Conference on Simulation Tools and Techniques (SIMUtools) in Spain for their paper “Spatio-temporal Speed Metrics for Traffic State Estimation on Complex Urban Roads”.
• The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has honored FOKUS researchers with the CTA Technology Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to the CTA WAVE Streaming Media Test Suite.
• The German DVB-I pilot project won the “IBC 2023 Special Award for Innovation” at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC). In the project, the DVB-I standard is being further developed to facilitate the continuous use of linear TV programs.

2022

• The FAME Video Development Blog post “Common pitfalls in MPEG-DASH streaming” by Daniel Silhavy, Stefan Pham and Mariana Avelino wins 3rd place at the ACM Mile-High Video (MHV) Best Video Blog Post Awards in March, 2022
