Dr. Tom Ritter appointed as honorary professor at HTW Berlin

On October 29, 2024, Dr. Tom Ritter, deputy director of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS, was appointed honorary professor of IT security and data protection at the Department of Computer Science, Communication and Economics (Department 4) at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW).

Dr. Tom Ritter has been deputy director of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS since November 2019. Together with the institute's director, Manfred Hauswirth, the computer scientist is responsible for the strategic direction of the institute, key account management and customer acquisition. Until the fall of 2019, he headed the Quality Engineering division at Fraunhofer FOKUS, which has around 80 employees. During this time, he significantly contributed to developing and implementing software tools and processes. His expertise in model-driven software development and quality assurance will now also benefit students at HTW Berlin.

Fraunhofer FOKUS and HTW Berlin have been successfully collaborating for many years to develop and implement innovative solutions in the field of IT security and data protection, among other things. Dr. Tom Ritter's new honorary professorship is an important milestone in further intensifying the cooperation between the institutes and promoting the transfer between science, teaching and industrial application.
