On December 5, 2017, at IRT in Munich, the EU-project MPAT organized a workshop on the creation of HbbTV-Apps. With its over 20 participants from broadcast and IT, the workshop was very well received.

From December 4-6, 2017, Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit FAME participated in the “Workshop on Virtual Reality Ecosystem & Standards”, which was organised by the 3GPP SA4 Working Group and the VR Industry Forum in Santa Clara, California.

At the HbbTV Symposium 2017 in Rome, the MPAT project created application “Band Camp Berlin” won the HbbTV Award in the category “Best use of HbbTV for broadcast enhancement”.

From October 9-11, 2017, Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit FAME participated at the CNS in Las Vegas and presented the paper “Dynamic ad-insertion and content orchestration workflows through manifest manipulation in HLS and MPEG-DASH”.

On October 11, 2017, at Selenium Conference in Berlin, Christian Bromann presented his Master Thesis “Design and Implementation of a Development and Test Automation Platform for HbbTV”. The research was done in collaboration with Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit FAME.

From September 14-19, 2017, Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit FAME demonstrated advanced streaming solutions at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam – the world’s leading media, entertainment and technology show.

From September 1-6, 2017, Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit Future Applications and Media (FAME) exhibited at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin. With more than 100,000 visitors, IFA is one of the biggest fairs focused on new products and developments of the entertainment and electronics industry. In cooperation with our partners ZVEI Deutsche TV Plattform and Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg (rbb) FAME presented its solutions on Interactive 360° Streaming as well as its Multi-Platform Application Toolkit (MPAT).

From July 10-14, 2017, Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit FAME participated at the “IEEE International Conference On Multimedia And Expo (ICME) 2017” in Hong Kong. ICME is one of the most important multimedia conferences and sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000.

On June 21 and 22, 2017, Fraunhofer FOKUS business unit FAME attended the “Screenforce Days 2017” at the Coloneum in Cologne. The new marketing event for TV and moving images with about 2500 participants informed about the highlights of the TV season 2017/2018, including their moving images and marketing strategies. In addition, it offered some insights into the newest technologies like virtual reality, addressable TV and 360° videos.

The Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg (rbb) published a new HbbTV App, that was developed by the MPAT project, coordinated by Fraunhofer FOKUS.
