Fraunhofer FOKUS is an experienced and competent partner for the development and application of digitalization technologies and the networking of distributed infrastructures. Fraunhofer FOKUS develops practical solutions in many national and international funded projects as well as in contract research for SMEs, large-scale industry and public administration.

    Adaptive, interoperable professional education platforms using a digital triplet

    Prototype of a National Mediator Platform for Interoperable Educational Technologies

    The National Education Platform, initiated by the BMBF, aims to provide a technical meta-platform based on open standards that creates the foundation for a interconnected, powerful and interoperable teaching-learning infrastructure. The Common Learning Middleware (CLM) developed by Fraunhofer FOKUS was selected by the BMBF as a prototype of the National Education Platform within the framework of the “mEDUator” project.

  • EPRIS-ADEP

    European criminal records - Automation of data exchange processes

    The project ESPRI-ADEP has developed a procedure for the pseudonymized identification of personal data between the information systems of EU member states. With this procedure, it can be queried whether data on suspicious persons are available within the EU without disclosing the sensitive data themselves (hit/no hit procedure).

    As part of the “Transfer Point” project of the “IT Security for the Economy” initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), the business units Collaborative Safety and Security (ESPRI) and Digital Public Services (DPS) are developing solutions to support small and medium businesses with practical and up-to-date information on protection against cyber attacks.

    Standardized communication protocols and technical specifications do require unique descriptions for testing. Scientists of Fraunhofer FOKUS are part of the Special Task Forces (STFs) and Testing Task Forces (TTFs) of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), whose objective it is to define test specifications using TTCN-3 and to maintain TTCN-3.

    The armed forces want to access the innovative power of digital transformation. The vision of the study “AI support for learning management systems” is attractive, modern and targeted training that ensures the right personnel are well trained and capable of acting at the right time. To this end available functionalities from the fields of digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data are to be integrated into the existing training landscape of the armed forces. This exploratory study, which was commissioned by the Bundeswehr Planning Office, aims to demonstrate the added value and feasibility of an AI-supported learning management system.
